Cortona 2012—

If you’ve seen the movie, Under the Tuscan Sun, then you’ve heard of Cortona!  The movie and book are about how a woman buys a villa in Cortona and falls in love with Italy.
I took the train to Cortona and spent an afternoon wandering the streets which included a long lunch (2 glasses of wine with dessert)!!!  For those who are visiting me next, I promised Barbara (the person who made the cake below) that I would return for more cake, wine, and bring lots of friends!!

Busy—very busy!!

I hope everyone had a great holiday!

I had friends visiting during my holiday break---it was a blast—and I miss all of them.

During the break, I visited Rome, Venice, Siena, Pisa, Sorrento, Amalfi, and San Gimignao!!

I am in my last months of Italy—5 months and I will be back in the States.  Sad smile

Ok last post of Paris…

The beautiful stained glass windows are in St. Chapelle—it was built to house the relic, Crown of Thorns—it has 15 panels—if you get a chance google St. Chapelle because my pictures do not do it justice.
The last couple of pics are of the bakery that was across from our hotel---yummy--

More Paris…

I was walking to the Orsay Museum and passed St. Suplice—I think it was a church in the Da Vinci code?  The church construction started in 1646 and finished in 1745—whew 99 years—Victor Hugo was married here—it is quite lovely with the white façade--

The last pic is of St. Germain—it was built in 1163, but sits on a much older foundation.  I was going in the church, however I was swarmed by a bunch of French boy scouts –needless to say  I walked away with a 5 euro French calendar—I am such a sucker even in foreign lands!!!!
